Resurrection Workshop

On January 19th we visited Resurrection Middle School in Rye, NY. We worked with 4th-8th graders, focusing on an awareness of social media. We discussed the benefits and the challenges, as well as provided specific tools to help navigate this ever-changing space.

To get the students feeling comfortable we played one of our favorite games that strengthens focus and listening skills.

We had an interesting conversation about what social media means to these middle schoolers.

The students participated in a gallery walk, sharing their thoughts and ideas in response to questions about social media. We love this activity as it allows all kids to have a voice.

We gave the middle schoolers different social media scenarios and the students practiced applying the tools learned.

We concluded our workshop with another movement game. For this activity, one student shares a truth in the middle and then if it is true for you, you run and switched seats. The person without a seat, stays in the middle.

We love this game because students can share, be brave, connect with others, observe, and do it all while focusing on moving.

Thank you so much Res for hosting us! We are looking forward to coming back and working with these amazing middle schoolers in the spring!
